Learning Helping Living (LHL) is a well-established Ghanaian non-governmental organization with over three decades of experience in community development, public health, environmental conservation, and livelihood improvement. The organization has successfully designed, implemented, and managed multi-donor funded projects supported by international development partners, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Netherlands Embassy, Global Environment Facility (GEF), Stop TB Partnership, National Malaria Control Programme, and Municipal Health Directorates.

Netherlands Embassy Grant - Fuelwood cookstove Project (1998)

Stop TB Partnership Programme (2006 – Present)
Operational Areas: Ashiedu Keteke Municipality, North Kwahu District (Afram Plains), South Tongu District (89 communities including island communities)
Key Components:
- Conducted TB screening, sputum collection, testing coordination, contact tracing, and treatment follow-ups.
- Worked with District and Regional TB Coordinators to improve early case detection.
- Achieved measurable case detection and treatment success between 2021–2023 despite hard-to-reach locations.

- Over 900 individuals screened (2021–2023)
- Multiple TB-positive cases detected and placed on treatment
- Improved community compliance through counselling and follow-up visits
National Malaria Control Programme (2018)
Operational Areas: All communities across Ghana
Key Components:
- Trained community volunteers and opinion leaders.
- Conducted sensitization in schools, churches, mosques, markets, and community durbars.
- Organized mobile van outreach and community radio education.
- Supported IPTp uptake among pregnant women.
Key Results:
- Reduced malaria incidence and OPD malaria cases.
- Improved community awareness and preventive practices.
- Strengthened collaboration with District Health Management Teams.
French Solidarity Programme (FSPI – PISCCA) (2020)
Project Description: This project was implemented under the FSPI–PISCCA framework, a French Government–funded initiative designed to strengthen civil society organizations in Ghana. The programme supports advocacy, environmental protection, climate change mitigation, social inclusion, and human development initiatives. Learning Helping Living (LHL) was selected as one of the beneficiary local NGOs under the Environment and Climate Change thematic window.

Implementation Period: February 2020 – March 2021
Project Location: Ho Municipality, Volta Region. Includes restoration of Forest Cover and Conservation of Biodiversity of Tanyigbe, Akoefe and Tokokoe Degraded Lands for Socio-Economic Transformation.

- Restoration of degraded forest lands through tree planting and assisted natural regeneration
- Biodiversity conservation education in beneficiary communities
- Community sensitization on climate change impacts and sustainable land management
- Engagement of traditional authorities, youth groups, and community volunteers
- Promotion of sustainable livelihood options linked to environmental conservation

COVID-19 & Child Immunization Project (2021-2023)

Key Activities:
- Conducted outreach education and capacity-building workshops for churches and communities.
- Sensitized 15 communities on COVID-19 prevention and immunization benefits.
- Improved caregiver knowledge on child vaccination.
GEF Small Grants Programme - Biodiversity & Livelihood Projects
Funding Partner: Kpedze & Akorme Local Initiatives (2023–2024)
Key Activities:
- Conducted environmental education across communities, schools, religious bodies, and FM stations.
- Planted over 40,000 trees (agroforestry farms and community woodlots).
- Introduced energy-efficient cookstoves to 60 households.
- Promoted organic farming, composting, wildfire management, and sustainable agriculture.
Bakpe No.2 Degraded Land Restoration Project (2025–2026)

- Restoration of degraded lands through tree planting and agroforestry.
- Training of women, youth, aged persons, and persons with disabilities in sustainable livelihoods.
- Establishment of small ruminant rearing systems and environmental education clubs in schools.
- Planting of economic and indigenous tree species across multiple hectares.
